DeleteMostly done with the serious pain. Not much fun, well except in the hospital after the operation. I always have fun in hospital as I have so much admiration for our Medical Services in BC.
ReplyDeleteVolunteered to be a test dummy for the Student Nurses, like the last time I was in hospital. Was a pretty good straight man for the funnier nurses and tried to help where I could.
Its terrible in hospital, so much pain and misery, that all you can do is try to keep it light and get a few laughs. For me it was fine, a nice steady drip of Tramadol, then an intermittent drip for the last day kept me from pain.
Went home, bought my prescription of Tramacets on the way. They are Tramadol and Aspirin and are a strong pain killer. Got home and then the stuff from the hospital wore off. Serious pain and I did 2 of em', and then 1 every 4 hours. Worked great ... til the constipation kicked in. The I got a stool softener and laxative deal recommended by my Pharmacist, which worked after a day or so.
Quit the Tramacets and discovered why we are losing people to Opiate addiction at such a high rate. I can take a lot of pain, but no one wants to. So after quitting the Tramacets I found out why I was so optimistic and feeling pretty good. Its junk and a strong mood elevator, etc etc.
I was in some pain but the sheer horror of quitting the really nice Tramacets, came from the loss of the junkie benefits. I have never been called so hard by any drug to come back and relax, and that was a bit scary. Toughed it out, but I have good drugs and could use them to get through the bad feelings. As well I knew what was happening.
Any normal person with little drug experience, would have a very hard time not becoming addicted to these very smooth and lovely opiates.
Amusingly, building muscle is how you deal with the incontinence produced by a radical prostrate removal.
ReplyDeleteThe base of the pelvis has a set of muscles that women use to control their bladder, and that is what you need to strengthen as the ones you used before are gone. So the lower set of muscles surrounding the urethra can be used to control your bladder.
I do exercises to strengthen them.
